Photographer
I began taking photographs at the age of 36, when life unexpectedly handed me a camera. In 2009, I found an old Praktica 35mm in a gray bag left on a street in London - complete with three lenses. That moment marked the beginning of a new path: photography became a way to explore, observe, and express the invisible: emotions, human stories, and inner landscapes. Since then, I’ve been using photography not only as a form of artistic expression, but also as a tool for reflection, connection, and healing.
I teach individuals how to confidently use their camera’s manual settings, empowering them to take control of light, composition, and creative expression. The goal is not just to capture high-quality photographs, but to understand how to see through the lens with intention and curiosity.
Whether you're a beginner or looking to deepen your skills, my courses combine technical guidance with a mindful, artistic approach to image-making.
I conduct therapeutic photography workshops where the camera becomes more than a tool, it becomes a mirror.
In these workshops, photography is used as a form of self-expression, self-observation, and gentle exploration of inner worlds. Through guided exercises, visual storytelling, and shared reflection, participants are invited to connect with their emotions, personal narratives, and identity in a safe, non-judgmental space. It’s not about technical perfection, but about seeing - and being seen - with authenticity.
Over the years, some of my projects have naturally evolved into book-worthy works combining photography and text in meaningful ways. I’d love to publish them, so I’m currently exploring crowdfunding to bring my self-publishing editorial vision to life, while also seeking publishing houses that might resonate with my work.

A two-day intensive workshop designed for amateur photographers, semi-professionals, and enthusiasts who want to explore portraiture as a relational, narrative, and creative practice.
An opportunity to reflect on what it means to photograph another human being and to find a personal language based on listening and observation.
WHAT WE WILL DO
During the workshop, we will work on three fundamental levels: relationship, technique, and storytelling.
Here are the key topics we will cover:
- The relationship with the subject
Building an empathetic dialogue before shooting, creating trust and participation.
- The right distance
Where to position ourselves in relation to the subject? Learning to read the body, respect timing, and find the balance between observation and involvement.
- Environmental portraiture
Location scouting and organizing the visual space to strengthen the story and create atmosphere.
- Staged Photography
How to build scenes with conscious direction, even when it seems improvised.
- Serial portraits
Developing coherent sequences to tell stories with multiple images, creating a narrative thread.
- Creative concept for a photoshoot
Defining intentionality: what do we want to tell? Why does this person interest us? What is our point of view?
- Intimate portrait
Using light, proximity, and context to create images that touch deep emotions. In-depth study of studio light applied to natural or hybrid light.
- Composition
Lines, colors, empty spaces, framing: how to use them to intensify the meaning of the portrait.
- Posing the subject
Not only positioning but also how to make the person feel comfortable, for an expressive and authentic pose.
- Group portrait
Managing multiple subjects, harmonizing dynamics, and maintaining a coherent narrative.
PRACTICAL NOTES
Bring a digital camera or smartphone with a good camera
Wear comfortable clothes suitable for outdoor movement
Optional: bring your own subject for the individual project
GOALS
To provide each participant with new awareness, practical tools, and creative stimuli to integrate into their photographic journey. During the masterclass, a personal project will be started, which can be further developed after the workshop. We will learn how to select images, write reflections, and design narrative sequences, laying the groundwork for future exhibitions or personal publications.
A portrait is an encounter.
And every encounter leaves a mark, even after the camera is turned off.
REGISTRATION
Cost: €210 (includes 2 days of training and lunch on the first day)

As part of the Esperienza Benessere program, I led a photography workshop for mature women, designed to help participants feel valued, seen, and free to express themselves - without fear of judgment.
Photography is more than a way to document memories. It’s a tool for personal rediscovery, for reconnecting with ourselves and with the world in a more mindful and compassionate way.
During the workshop, each woman used the ritual of "The Mirror" and her smartphone as a means to explore - and gently appreciate - different aspects of her body, identity, and presence.
By practicing self-observation without criticism, participants began to see themselves with new eyes, cultivating a more caring relationship with their self-image and boosting their self-esteem.
In this safe, creative setting, the act of taking photos became a form of self-care and a step toward personal fulfilment.
As we age, many experience social isolation, which can deeply impact both mental and physical health. Yet, photography has the power to create connection - not only with others, but also within ourselves.
Through simple yet powerful exercises, the women reconnected with their past, formed emotional links with their memories, and began to build a present-day image of themselves that felt conscious, strong, and whole.
By working in pairs and sharing their images, they chose how they wanted to be seen - and who they wanted to become today. In doing so, they created meaningful bonds and shared stories in empowering new ways.
Many women in later life may feel invisible, overlooked, or disconnected due to changes in physical appearance or a reduced social role. Photography can help reclaim that lost visibility - offering a space where identity, presence, and beauty can re-emerge on our own terms.
Armed with a camera or smartphone, we begin to notice the details that make up our daily lives: a soft light at sunset, a friend’s smile, a quiet moment in nature. This mindful observation helps us rediscover joy in small things and nurture a positive mindset.
In the workshop, photography was not only a creative outlet but also a mental exercise - training memory, attention, and reflection. Every image became an opportunity to keep the mind active and inspired.
Studies show that photography enhances cognitive function, supports emotional processing, and improves communication in therapeutic settings -especially among older adults.
Portrait photography, in particular, becomes a celebration of authenticity and life experience. It helps us see the beauty in age, in wrinkles, in the depth of a gaze that has witnessed so much.
Each photo can also become a practice of gratitude. A walk in the park. A dinner with friends. A shared glance. When we revisit these captured moments with awareness, we unlock a deep emotional richness - often leading to greater wellbeing and even helping to reduce anxiety and depression.
In conclusion, Photography is more than a creative activity. It’s a transformative tool that allows individuals - especially women - to see themselves and the world with fresh eyes.
It helps uncover hidden beauty, encourages reflection, boosts confidence, and supports both emotional and cognitive health.
This work is an invitation to slow down, observe, and rediscover purpose and presence - through the lens, and through life itself.

Until December 3rd, alongside my fellow photographers on the jury, I will be reviewing and selecting the winning photos submitted online, using a voting system that ranges from 1 to 5.
I’m honoured and grateful to be part of this experience for the second time. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from other talented photographers.
Thank you, Monochrome Awards for this opportunity!

These hundreds of images have been showcased in exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and performances, creating a living archive of men’s visions of eroticism that joyfully challenge gender representations and reaffirm the political dimension of our desires. The book is available on various online platforms or directly from the Lusted Men website.

Through photography, drawing, painting, engraving, sculpture, installation, and performance, the exhibition becomes a modular and living system - each work linking to another, creating a prism of interconnected territories: physical, emotional, social, and ecological.
At the core of the exhibition is the 8th point of the Action Hybride Manifesto:
“Action Hybride considers the human body and condition in relation to its environments, both interior and exterior. Living in all its forms, a solidaristic network of multiple relationships and diverse territories, for a political ecology, artistic expression, and a collective social becoming.”
NEXUS engages with pressing contemporary themes: consumer society and ecological fragility, technology, memory, and trans-generational transmission, the visible and invisible imprints of the body. illness, death, intimacy, and the imprint of time.
The exhibition also challenges the boundaries between individual and collective creation. Several works emerge from collaborations, dialogues, and shared imaginations among the artists themselves, making the relationships within Action Hybride an essential part of the artistic language.
Together, these artists create a unified yet multifaceted voice - where diverse landscapes, from France to Ireland and beyond, are woven into an evolving, interconnected ecosystem of expression.
Artists: Francesca Sand, Louise A. Depaume, Géraldine Villemain, Louise Dumont, Fanny Gosse, Maria Clark, Loredana Denicola, Caroline Polikar, Axelle Remeaud, Mila Nijinsky, Tamina Beausoleil, Amélia Fouillen, Elisabette Zelaya.
Guest Artist: Dolorosa de la Cruz
Venue: GalleryX, 11 Hume Street, Dublin

![Certificate of Participation awarded to [Your Name] for judging the Monochrome Photography Awards 2023.](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/1dbb08_b9cb7f9eb5e349b9a5c96ba9907a94cc~mv2.jpg/v1/fill/w_457,h_456,q_90,enc_avif,quality_auto/1dbb08_b9cb7f9eb5e349b9a5c96ba9907a94cc~mv2.jpg)
It was exhilarating to witness such diverse interpretations from photographers on a shared theme.
Viewing photography from new perspectives was one of the most meaningful experiences of my career, and I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to do it again soon.
I understand how challenging it is to remain objective in this context, but I evaluated every photograph with honesty and care.
I am extremely proud to have achieved this milestone and profoundly thankful to life and the Monochrome Photography Awards for allowing me to grow and test myself as a judge.

This journey has opened my eyes to the power of empathy, emotional intelligence, and the role of art in exploring the human essence. As the course states, “art may know man even better than science.” Art allows us to express emotions, sensations, and meanings that often elude verbal language. It doesn’t merely reflect reality; it transforms it, offering fresh perspectives on our existence.
Using the "creative autobiographical method for emotional intelligence", I explored into my personal history. This method enabled me to give voice to my most intimate experiences, emotions, and desires - not just through text but also through photography, enhancing how I tell my story in a more personal and meaningful way. Every artistic work -whether photography, painting, or writing - carries hidden layers beyond surface narratives, revealing emotional worlds that invite viewers to explore new facets of themselves.
With these new skills in art psychology, artwork interpretation, and creative autobiography, I’m better equipped to apply this knowledge across various contexts, including photography as a therapeutic tool - a field I am passionate about and continue to explore. This approach to photography nurtures emotional wellbeing and personal growth for those involved.
I am grateful for this transformative learning experience.

From now until December 5th, I will join a panel of 13 expert judges to review and score thousands of online submissions using a detailed voting system. The judging process is unique in that photographers’ names are kept anonymous, allowing the focus to remain purely on the artistic strength and impact of each black and white photograph.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an inspiring event and excited to help select the winners who represent the very best in monochrome photography.
Thank you, Monochrome Awards!

The article talks about my solo exhibition, The Camera as a Mirror: Intimate Conversations with Others, the World, and Myself. The show opens tonight, June 9th, at 7 pm at the Il Castello photographic club, FIAF of Taranto.
The exhibition is curated by Raimondo Musolino and Pierluca Lubello.

Loredana approaches people with empathy, seeing the “other” and even the “stranger within herself” with understanding and kindness.
She uses her camera not just to take pictures, but as a way to build trust and connection between herself and her subjects.
She explains: “I respect people’s differences and want to understand strangers and even parts of myself that feel hidden or shameful. Talking and listening without fear helps break down prejudices. The ‘other’ becomes one of us. Listening to others helps me understand and accept myself better.”
Her photography is a way to heal and reflect on herself and others through intimate images, text, and video.
She shares control of the camera with the people she photographs, allowing them to express themselves freely.
By being open and vulnerable, she encourages others to do the same. The final photos show honest, real moments that sometimes surprise viewers. The camera acts like a mirror, reflecting both the subject and the photographer.
The exhibition shows portraits from three London projects: "I am your mirror," "love, sex, and relationships," and "The theatre of the mind."
Opening: Friday, June 9 at 6:30 PM
Free admission
Also open:
Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Everyone is welcome!

Digitally scanned and printed on Canson Barita Prestige paper (21 x 29.7 cm), the print highlights rich blacks and crisp whites for exceptional image quality.
Available as an open edition, this piece accompanies the upcoming exhibition "The camera as a mirror" at Il Castello Photographic Circle, Taranto, June 9–11, 2024.

The project includes photographs, videos, and writing collected through over 40 hours of interviews since 2019.
It explores emotional and psychological abuse - its impact and similarities to physical and sexual abuse - through a series of intimate conversations.
The project also features an unpublished book and aims to start a self-dialogue and raise awareness.
In this interview, Loredana talks about her work, her personal experiences, emotions, photography as therapy, and how she addresses psychological abuse. The discussion is both complex and insightful.
Interviewer: Selene Grandi

Created in collaboration with artist Samantha Zenou, the work explores the fusion of photographic realism and hand-drawn expression.

Originally conceived in pre-Brexit, pre-Covid London, the work began with a central question: What does it mean to love?
I interviewed and photographed 25 individuals - singles and couples - met online or on the streets. Their stories, honest and raw, span diverse experiences: heterosexual and LGBTQ+ relationships, single mothers, divorce, and more.
This proposed book aims to act as a mirror - of ourselves, others, and the often messy, beautiful, and painful truths of love.
Key themes are: emotional intimacy and vulnerability, the psychology of love and relationship addiction, gender identity and the female gaze, healing from trauma through creativity, reclaiming voice, agency, and self-worth, photography as self-reflection
Content: black and white portraits (shot on film, Mamiya 6x7), personal writings and interview excerpts, video stills and selected video content, essays on shame, boundaries, survival, and growth, reflections on the creative and therapeutic process.
