Photographer
I began taking photographs at the age of 36, when life unexpectedly handed me a camera. In 2009, I found an old Praktica 35mm in a gray bag left on a street in London - complete with three lenses. That moment marked the beginning of a new path: photography became a way to explore, observe, and express the invisible: emotions, human stories, and inner landscapes.
Since then, I’ve been using photography not only as a form of artistic expression, but also as a tool for reflection, connection, and healing.
I teach individuals how to confidently use their camera’s manual settings, empowering them to take control of light, composition, and creative expression.
The goal is not just to capture high-quality photographs, but to understand how to see through the lens with intention and curiosity.
Whether you're a beginner or looking to deepen your skills, my courses combine technical guidance with a mindful, artistic approach to image-making.
I conduct therapeutic photography workshops where the camera becomes more than a tool, it becomes a mirror.
In these workshops, photography is used as a form of self-expression, self-observation, and gentle exploration of inner worlds.
Through guided exercises, visual storytelling, and shared reflection, participants are invited to connect with their emotions, personal narratives, and identity in a safe, non-judgmental space.
It’s not about technical perfection, but about seeing - and being seen - with authenticity.
Over the years, some of my projects have naturally evolved into book-worthy works - combining photography and text in meaningful ways.
I’d love to publish them, so I’m currently exploring crowdfunding to bring my self-publishing editorial vision to life, while also seeking publishing houses that might resonate with my work.
La Pecora Edizioni
I co-founded La Pecora Edizioni in 2021 with Francesca Sand,
a small, independent publishing label.
Our first publication, FRAG-MÉNTUM, combines the work of five photographers, creating a collective visual narrative.

I had the privilege of working with a group of women over 60, creating a space where awareness, self-esteem, and wellbeing came together through the art of photography.
As part of the “Esperienza Benessere” program, I led a photography workshop designed to help these women feel valued, understood, and free to express themselves, without fear of judgment.
Photography is much more than a way to document life’s moments; it is a powerful tool for rediscovering ourselves and the world around us.
During the workshop, participants used the ritual of "The Mirror" and their smartphones to explore and appreciate aspects of their bodies and recognise positive inner qualities. It became a way of seeing themselves with new eyes, boosting self-esteem and cultivating a deeper awareness of their self-image as they age.
In this setting, the act of taking photos turned into a form of self-care and a meaningful path to personal fulfillment.
As we age, social isolation can have a significant impact on both mental and physical health. Yet photography has the power to build connections, not only with others but also within ourselves.
Through the act of photographing, the women in the workshop reconnected with their past, established emotional bonds with their memories, and, by focusing on the present, built. a strong and conscious self-image.
Working in pairs and sharing images with the group became opportunities to tell their stories, to choose how they wanted to be seen and who they wanted to be today - strengthening relationships and creating new bonds.
Many people in later life may start to feel invisible or overlooked due to changes in physical appearance, a shrinking social circle, or the sense of no longer having an active role in society.
Photography offers a unique opportunity to reclaim one’s identity and view the world - and oneself - through fresh eyes.
Armed with a smartphone or camera, we can learn to observe details that often go unnoticed in our busy lives: a sunset, a friend’s face, a peaceful corner of the garden. This mindful observation helps rediscover beauty in the small things, encouraging a positive mindset and nurturing gratitude.
Creativity that stimulates the mind
In this workshop, photography was not only a creative outlet, but also a mental exercise - training attention, memory, and reflection.
Each photo became an opportunity to keep the mind active and spark creativity, helping to slow cognitive decline.
Several studies have shown the psychological benefits of photography. In therapeutic settings - such as care homes - it is used to foster communication among residents, strengthen social bonds, and reduce loneliness.
Portrait photography, in particular, can help us rediscover the beauty of authenticity - celebrating the life experience each person carries.
The workshop offered a space to face one’s self-image positively, encouraging each woman to recognise her uniqueness and to appreciate the beauty found in the marks of time.
Photography can also become a powerful practice of gratitude. Each image serves as a reminder of the little joys in everyday life: a walk in the park, dinner with friends, a shared moment with family.
These captured moments - when viewed with awareness - can spark a deep sense of gratitude, which not only enriches emotional wellbeing but also helps reduce the risk of anxiety and depression.
In conclusion
Photography is not just a way to capture reality; it is a powerful tool that allows mature individuals to see themselves - and the world - through new eyes.
It helps uncover hidden beauty in daily life, offers space for personal exploration and reflection, stimulates creativity, enhances memory, and promotes meaningful social interaction.
An invitation to slow down, observe, and rediscover purpose - in one’s image, and in one’s life.

Until December 3rd, alongside my fellow photographers on the jury, I will be reviewing and selecting the winning photos submitted online, using a voting system that ranges from 1 to 5.
I’m honoured and grateful to be part of this experience for the second time. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from other talented photographers.
Thank you, Monochrome Awards for this opportunity!

These hundreds of images have been showcased in exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and performances, creating a living archive of men’s visions of eroticism that joyfully challenge gender representations and reaffirm the political dimension of our desires. The book is available on various online platforms or directly from the Lusted Men website.

"The exquisite corpse consists of having a sentence, or a drawing, created by several people, without any of them being aware of the collaboration or contributions that came before."
(Abridged Dictionary of Surrealism, André Breton, 1938)
After more than a year exploring the concept of connection through our Nexus exhibitions—reflecting on the relationships between individuals and the collective, between bodies and territories, and consciously engaging with each other's works for the joy of collaboration—we are taking this exploration further.
A year spent mixing, exchanging, transforming with each new exhibition. A year spent delving into the "why," theorising the "how," and questioning the meaning behind it all.
Now the time has come to reverse this process and approach this cherished theme—connection—in a new way.
Here, collaborations are random and entirely fortuitous.
Here, the coherence of an order makes sense only within that order, even if it appears absurd.
Here, the end of one work becomes the beginning of another, and the final piece was imagined by none of us.
Here, the weight of the works is balanced by the lightness of play.
A game orchestrated mysteriously by Géraldine Villemain, who sent an anonymous image to our inboxes. Each of us was tasked with responding to it quickly, without any explanation.
This exquisite corpse represents our connections when they navigate freely: beautiful, surprising, and yet coherent.

NEXUS
GalleryX, Dublin, 11 Hume Street
Opening: September 12
The core of the exhibition is the 8th point in our Manifesto:
«Action Hybride considers the human body and condition in relation to its environments, both interior and exterior. Living in all its forms, a solidaristic network of multiple relationships and diverse territories, for a political ecology, artistic expression, and a collective social becoming.»
The exhibition addresses the connections with consumer society, technology, nature, and ecosystems, as well as more intimate relationships such as those with illness, death, trans-generational transmission, the body and its imprints, from the visible to the invisible, from the outside to the inside.
At the heart of the exhibition, the relationships between the members of Action Hybride themselves question the relationship between the individual and the collective. Some artists engage with the imagination of another member or a specific work to create new proposals. It is the linking of all the creations in NEXUS that gives rise to a point of spatial and thematic convergence for the project.
This itinerant exhibition creates connections between the landscapes of each artist, in France and abroad, weaving together psychic, physical, and territorial environments into a modular prism with thirteen faces.
Team of Action Hybride:
Francesca Sand, Louise A. Depaume, Géraldine Villemain, Louise Dumont, Fanny Gosse, Maria Clark, Loredana Denicola, Caroline Polikar, Axelle Remeaud, Mila Nijinsky, Tamina Beausoleil, Amélia Fouillen, Elisabette Zelaya.

Founded by Loredana Denicola and Francesca Sand, our mission is to produce publications, photography books, and zines that celebrate humanity in all its shades—embracing imperfection and beauty.
Both founders are Italian artists: Francesca resides in France, while Loredana, after years in London, has returned to Italy for personal reasons but continues to work internationally.
Our debut publication, Frag-méntum, is the first official project by La Pecora. This visually compelling work is graphically curated by Francesca Sand, with a cover concept designed by Loredana Denicola. We invited artists who could open windows into the world through their creations, offering readers a unique experience.
To bring Frag-méntum to life, we’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe. The funds raised will go toward the production, printing, and distribution of the book, ensuring each copy meets the highest quality standards and aligns with our artistic vision.
The book features works by:
Alessandra Calò
Uta Genilke

It was truly exhilarating to observe the diverse interpretations of photographers on the same theme.
Viewing photography from a different perspective was one of the most meaningful experiences for me, and I sincerely hope to do it again soon. I understand that being objective in this context is not easy, but I evaluated all the photographs with honesty.
I am extremely proud to have achieved this goal and am profoundly grateful to life and the Monochrome Photography Awards for giving me the opportunity to test myself as a judge.

This educational journey has opened my eyes to the power of empathy, emotional intelligence, and the depth of art in exploring the human essence. As stated in the course description, "art may know man even better than science". Through art, we can express emotions, sensations, and meanings that are otherwise inexpressible. Indeed, art doesn't just reflect reality; it transfigures and transforms it, offering us new perspectives on our existence.
Through the Creative Autobiographical Method for Emotional Intelligence, I had the opportunity to explore my personal history profoundly. Creative autobiography allowed me to give voice to my most intimate experiences, emotions, and desires, transforming them not only into texts but also into new ways of working with photography, telling my story more personally. Every artistic work, whether photography, painting, writing, or otherwise, carries with it a hidden meaning beyond the superficial narrative, revealing an emotional world that allows viewers to explore new aspects of themselves.
With the skills acquired in art psychology, interpretation of artworks, and creative autobiography, I am now better able to apply this knowledge in various contexts, including photography as therapy, an aspect I am particularly interested in and am further exploring. Photography in this exploratory manner enhances the emotional well-being and personal growth of those involved.
Very grateful.

With the ultimate mission of celebrating monochrome visions and discovering great talents across the globe, Monochrome Photography Awards is one of the most coveted and enviable annual competitions in the field of amateur and professional photography.
From today until December 5th, along with 12 fellow photographers on the jury, we will examine and choose the winning photos submitted online, using a voting system ranging from 1 to 5.
Inside the judges' panel, I noticed that no names of the photographers, both professionals and amateurs, are mentioned; only a sequence of individual photos is presented. I appreciate that the author's name is not revealed, emphasising the strength of each image.
I'm grateful to be part of this new experience. Let's get to work!
Thank you, Monochrome Awards!

Hapax#4 Human consists of 88 pages, A4 size when closed and A3 size when open, featuring both color and black-and-white images. The internal pages are printed on "usomano business ultra white" 90g paper, while the cover is made of "matte coated paper" weighing 200g. Inside, you'll find texts, photos, drawings, and other images, all tied to the theme of the body and the human condition: vulnerability, stereotypes, identity, transformation, nudity, skin, flows, intimacy, and social aspects are among the explored themes. It is a rich collection with diverse and powerful universes. Each artist in the collective remains free to contribute within a collectively defined theme. Each issue of Hapax is then taken on by one of us for its conception.
This year, it was my turn. I created the new issue Hapax#4 HUMAN scheduled for November/December 2023, and we are launching pre-orders on Ulule, a crowdfunding platform. (A lovely self-published gift to place under the Christmas tree?). The photographs and drawings interact with each other and fully reveal when detached from the red elastic, transforming into A3 posters.
With the participation of Louise Dumont, Francesca Sand, Axelle Remeaud, Vanda Spengler, Fanny Gosse, Maria Clark, Louise A. Depaume, Mila Nijinsky, Géraldine Villemain, Layral Sébastien, Tamina Beausoleil, Karo Polikar, Amélia Fouillen, Emma Terno, Loredana Denicola.
HAPAX#4 "HUMAN": How does the definition of the human evolve? How is life defined, and what are the differences that separate animals, plants, humans, and the "non-human"? What are our responsibilities towards our peers, other forms of life, and the planet they inhabit? And what would life be like without us?
The fanzine is a project that combines art and creativity to explore essential themes of our existence and responsibilities. We have responsibilities towards our peers, other forms of life, and the planet.
"The definition of the human is constantly evolving, with an increasing awareness of the connections between animals, plants, humans, and the 'non-human.' Our responsibilities include promoting human rights, combating injustice, and protecting biodiversity and the environment. Without us, life on Earth would follow its natural course, offering unique opportunities and challenges for the planet and other forms of life. This urges us to reflect on our impact and the duty to preserve our world for future generations."

The article covers my solo photographic exhibition titled "The camera as a mirror: intimate conversations with others, the world, and oneself, which is set to inaugurate this evening, June 9th, at 7 pm at the 'Il Castello' photographic club, FIAF of Taranto.
The exhibition is curated by Raimondo Musolino and Pierluca Lubello."

The artist approaches the "other," the "stranger within herself," with empathetic understanding and an almost therapeutic approach.
She observes, analyses, accepts, and assimilates the world through her work.
The camera isn't merely a medium "between" the photographer and the subject but rather an intermediary that fosters a relationship of trust.
Denicola explains her work: "I have great respect for people's differences. I've always wanted to approach and understand the stranger or the 'strange.' I'm also interested in self-estrangement, how we may hide and feel shame for aspects of ourselves. I believe that by talking to strangers without fear, by visiting them and listening to them, we can put aside prejudices and preconceptions, leading to understanding. The 'other' becomes one of us.
Additionally, through listening to honest accounts of others' lives, I hope to gain insights into my own life and find more self-acceptance."
She employs photography as a form of healing, using it as a means of self-observation through intimate conversations using images, text, and videos.
"Through photography, I can reexamine everything: who I am, what I think, what I feel, my upbringing, society, and religion. I work with people I encounter on the street or online. Instead of using my camera as a barrier or separation, I share control of the medium, allowing freedom of expression during the encounter. People present themselves as they are, without any imposition."
"By allowing myself to be physically and emotionally vulnerable, I encourage people to entrust me with their vulnerabilities. The final documentation is true, sincere, transparent, and sometimes startling. The camera is a mirror; the observer becomes the observed, and the mirror reflects the person. Do we like what we see?"
The displayed photos offer a glimpse into portraits of strangers from three projects carried out in London: "I am your mirror," "love, sex, and relationships," and "The theatre of the mind."
The exhibition will open on Friday, June 9, at 6:30 PM. Admission is free and open to all.
The exhibition will also be open to the public:
Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11
From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
We look forward to seeing you there!

In June, on the 9th, 10th, and 11th, I will have a photography exhibition within the Photographic Circle 'Il Castello,' FIAF of Taranto, titled 'The camera as a mirror. Intimate conversations with others, the world, and oneself,' and I am printing some of my photographs.
These are analog photographs taken using Ilford 120mm black and white film with a Mamiya II 6x7 camera. They are digitally scanned and printed on Canson Barita Prestige paper, 340 g/m2, with a glossy finish that enhances deep blacks and pure whites, delivering exceptional image quality.
Dimensions are 21 x 29.7 cm
These are open-edition fine art photographic prints, signed by me."

This project, developed over 40 hours of interviews and introduced in 2019 with a video trailer, consists of a series of conversations between Denicola and various individuals.
These conversations are part of a unique project that involves video documentation, photography, and writing. "love, sex, and relationships," which also includes an as-yet-unpublished book, was created with the intention of initiating a self-dialogue and exploring how emotional and psychological abuse, similar to physical and sexual abuse, can have destructive effects on an individual.
The interview with Loredana Denicola delves into her project and her personal life, past experiences, emotions, photography as a form of therapy, her fears, and approaches to dealing with psychological abuse.
The project is intricate but enlightening.

This endeavour comes to life through artistic collaboration with Miss Samantha Zenou.

The project's origins go back to a pre-Brexit and Covid-19 in London, where it took shape through interactions with twenty-five individuals, both couples and singles, who were encountered online and on the streets of this vibrant city.
At its core, the book poses a question: What does it mean 'to love'?
It explores a diverse spectrum of relationships, from heterosexual to homosexual, encompassing single mothers, divorced or separated couples, and more. Delving into the complexities of love, it unveils how an addiction to love can lead to emotional turbulence, including anxiety, violence, jealousy, pain, and confusion.
Within the pages of the book-project, photography, writing, and video documentation became a therapeutic journey.
It serves as a path to self-observation, self-discovery, and awareness.
The project aims to empower individuals on their personal journeys, fostering greater self-esteem, self-respect, and awareness, especially among women.
Moreover, the book of "love, sex, and relationships" represents a collective work of art, weaving together the creativity, self-expression, and lived experiences of all those who participated in the project.
This collective endeavour seeks to engage with the global community through dialogue, encouraging contemplation and reflection.
As a limited edition work of art and a self-published editorial project, the book will be produced through a public funding campaign.

If you explore Donya's story at this link: https://issuu.com/loredanadeni.../docs/_donya_pubbificazione you'll come across a photo of a carcass, 'la pecora,' indeed.
Loredana discovered it stranded on the beach of Cagliari, and she captured the image with a mobile phone. That single image left a profound impact on us, and it was from there that the name 'La Pecora edizioni' was born.
Sheep are humble and gentle animals. They are vulnerable yet serve humans by providing food and wool. Sheep live in groups; they are never alone. They embody unity, community, and the spirit of togetherness. The sheep spirit animal encourages us to be united, to cherish the power of friendship, and to support and uplift one another. This attitude contributes to making the Earth a better place to live— a place where great things happen when we come together.
Donya is the inaugural story of La Pecora Edizioni, and the name was chosen by Nahid. 'Donya' is a term in Farsi, the language of Persia, often used as a woman's name but also translating to 'world.'
La Pecora edizioni is a collaborative effort of Loredana, Francesca, Gianluca, and Nahid, and the video was produced by the Sarab Collective.
