scanning a body
... a journey into flesh and identity ...
scanning a body is a performative art project that explores the deep relationship between the human body, identity, and perception.
By scanning every detail and contour of the body, the project invites us to reflect on our complex struggle with self-identity, and how, in our daily lives, we often forget just how extraordinary the human body truly is.
This act encourages us to pause and appreciate the beauty and miraculous complexity of life itself, expressed through the physical form.
The project begins with a focus on the "cage of flesh" that surrounds us, before revealing what lies within: blood, fluids, the brain, DNA, the heart, and the essential act of breathing. The scan becomes a powerful act of revelation, showing the body not only as a physical structure, but as a living, constantly moving organism, always at our service.
The body deserves to be loved and respected - it is our true home. It works tirelessly for us, digesting food, creating blood, eliminating dead cells, and renewing itself with fresh oxygen. And yet, how often do we stop to acknowledge all of this?
In an age where our connection to the body is often forgotten or neglected, Scanning a Body aims to restore a sense of awareness and gratitude for our physical being. Using digital body scanning as a form of artistic introspection, the project becomes an act of self-recognition and acceptance, celebrating who we are in all our complexity and beauty.
How often do we truly stop to appreciate the intricate beauty of our own bodies?
