Ana Mendieta (1948–1985), Cuban-American artist, explored displacement, identity, and the body through performance, Body Art, Land Art, and sculpture. Sent to the U.S. as a child via Operation Pedro Pan, she faced separation, exile, and a fragmented sense of self.
