Exploring Alter Egos, Fetish, and BDSM: The Theatre of the Mind

Updated: Sep 17, 2023

Nervegna Art Café is opening its doors to a video-photographic project by Loredana Denicola. "The Theatre of the Mind" will be presented to the public in the form of a video art and photography exhibition curated by Ilaria Caravaglio and Valeria Gatti.

Event Details:

- Date: Starting from September 16th, every Thursday until October 28th.

- Time: 7:30 PM

- Location: Garden of Nervegna Art Café

"The Theatre of the Mind" is an installation project consisting of seven videos and photographs, with each video ranging from 25 to 50 minutes in length, totaling 5 hours of content.

This presentation delves into the creation of an alter ego and explores the world of fetish and BDSM (Bondage and Discipline, Domination and Submission, Sadism and Masochism).

An alter ego represents an alternative aspect of oneself, often born out of the need for love and acceptance.

Stephen creates his alter ego, and these meetings at Caffè Nervegna aim to provide insights into unfamiliar worlds, promote openness, and stimulate reflection.

Themes Discussed:

The event aims to address why we tend to fear those we consider "different" from us. Our fear often arises from ignorance, leading to defensive strategies that avoid contact with diversity.

We sometimes struggle to understand and listen to those who differ from us, seeking comfort in alignment with our beliefs and values.

Dialogue and cooperation are emphasised as essential for personal growth, enriching our identities and advancing society as a whole.

Upcoming Videos:

The video-art exhibition will continue in the following weeks with the projection of two more videos:

Thursday, October 21st - "Tacco Matto, I am my emotions"

Thursday, October 28th - "Graça, a 6-year-old girl and her imaginary dogs"

The videos are edited by Loredana Denicola and professors Francesco Bucci, Barbara Baldassarre, Francesco Tommasi, and Rita Greco.

"The Theatre of the Mind" invites the audience to fully immerse themselves empathically in the subjects' stories. Attendees are encouraged to engage with the art sincerely, courageously, and freely.
