Updated: Dec 30, 2021

press release

Nervegna Art Cafè opens its doors to a video-photographic project by Loredana Denicola. The Theatre of the Mind will be presented to the public in the form of a review of video-art and photography, curated by Ilaria Caravaglio and Valeria Gatti.

Every Thursday, starting from 16 September and until 28 October, a meeting will be held in the garden of the Cafeteria, in the presence of the artist and curators, in which one of the 7 videos that will involve the project will be presented and screened.

The Theatre of the Mind is an installation project of seven videos and photographs; each video varies from 25 to 50 minutes, for a total of 5 hours.

The project is an exploration into the facets of the mind. An invitation that, starting from a personal need of the artist, extends to the public, aiming to open a dialogue with the viewer/spectator. It is a video-photographic project based on trust, on the exploration of oneself through the other as enrichment and discovery, on acceptance; because everything that irritates us in others says something about us.

Thursday 14 October at 7.30 pm there will be the video documentation of Louis Grey Magus is my alter ego. We will talk about the creation of an alter ego and the world of fetish and BDSM. BDSM is an acronym that stands for: Bondage and Discipline (B&D), Domination and Submission (D / s oDs), Sadism and Masochism (S&M or SM)

A person's alter ego is 'other than himself', someone's alternative personality.

Stephen creates it out of the need to feel loved and accepted.

The meetings at Caffè Nervegna are created to get closer to unknown worlds, to open up and reflect.

But why are we so afraid of those we consider 'different' from us?

We are certainly scared of what we do not know and we implement defensive strategies to avoid coming into contact with diversity. We lack the ability to understand, listen and we tend to look for what is most similar to our aesthetic, existential canons, to our beliefs, as the only possible model of life without ever leaving our 'comfort' zone.

Dialogue and co-operation therefore become fundamental both for enriching our identity and our personal life, and for the development of society as a whole.

The video-art exhibition will continue, in the following weeks, with the projection of another 2 videos:

• Thursday 21 October - Tacco Matto, I am my emotions

• Thursday 28 October - Graça, a 6 year old girl and her imaginary dogs

Each video has a duration ranging from 25 to 50 minutes. The videos are in English with Italian subtitles edited by Loredana Denicola and by professors Francesco Bucci, Barbara Baldassarre, Francesco Tommasi and Rita Greco.

The Theatre of the mind' is an invitation to a total and empathic immersion with the story of the subject. The public is invited to relate to the work with sincerity, courage and freedom.
